The Sydney food blogging community is a buzz with the news that well renowned Sydney food, lifestyle & travel blogger, and friend, Billy Law from A Table for Two has made it into the top 24 contestants for Masterchef Australia 2011!
Read on to find out more about this budding Masterchef and how you too can
show wear your support, as well as contribute to a worthwhile charity.
Those of you who have read Billy’s food, lifestyle & travel blog will know that this giant among men (at least by Asian standards) has a strong passion not only for producing some spectacular food but he also has a keen eye for photography, whether the subject is mouth-watering food or picturesque travel locales.
Whilst on one of his overseas journeys, he was moved by an experience he had spending a day with KILT – Khmer Independent Life Team; a charity & recognised NGO that supports Cambodians afflicted with disabilities from a 30 year war, maimed by landmines that still litter the fields, or ones caused by disease.
The account is heartfelt and stirring, one that I recommend you read. It gave me perspective on not only how fortunate I am to be living the lifestyle that I do but how trivial most of my trifles are by comparison.
Show your support for Billy during his Masterchef trials by wearing it! Limited edition #teambilly t-shirts are available from the #teambilly website. All profits from the sale of the t-shirts goes to support the aforementioned KILT charitable organisation. #teambilly shirts are no longer available, but check out Billy’s journey through the competition on the #teambilly website.
You can also show your support by joining the Masterchef Chat, hosted by Chocolatesuze, a fellow Sydney food blogger. The Masterchef Chat is a self-contained channel for Masterchef fans to talk to their hearts content about each episode live as they air. There’s also a lot of love for Matt, a fellow food blogger from Melbourne (Cooking with Goths), who is also a contestant on the show.
If you want to learn more about Billy, aside from the about page on his blog, look no further than the official bio on the Masterchef website.
See you in the chat room ;)
Edit: Ok, judging from some of the comments received on this post, there may be something that needs clarifying.
The #teambilly t-shirts and the donation to charity are the initiative of Pete, Billy’s partner. The purpose of this post is to simply draw attention to, and support, this initiative. I make no claim of credit for the idea or its execution, either explicitly or by implication. Apologies for any miscommunication on my part regarding this matter.
