Masterchef Winner & Daily Telegraph Fail! (Spoiler Alert!)

Thought I’d temporarily break the hiatus for this one. This one was too good to pass up! :)

SPOILER ALERT!

If you’ve yet to watch the finale of Masterchef Australia and you do not want to find out who the first Masterchef Australia is, please do not read on!

The results are in and yes Poh is Australia’s first Masterchef! Well, according to the Daily Telegraph’s news website, who was gracious enough to release the growing anticipation and tension of Masterchef viewers such as myself and post the results prior to the conclusion of the Masterchef Australia final.

Actually, if you happened to watch the show, you’d realise that it was in fact Julie Goodwin who had earned the title of the first Masterchef Australia.

Though I’ve save the Daily Telegraph and myself the trouble of reprinting the whole article, here are a few choice quotes from the portion of the article that can’t be seen in the image:

“After pocking the $100,000 cash prize and a cookbook deal [Poh] Ling Yeow says she’s excited about launching her book Food From Mars.”

“Disappointed but humble, [Julie] Goodwin praised her feisty opponent for her success.”Poh’s a very deserving winner,” she said. “I’m proud of her, she’s a good friend and I wish her every success in the world.””

Edit: Why reprint when you have access to the full article? Link to original article, while it’s still around.

Edit: The link in the article in the previous edit has been modified. Note the changes when compared to the captured image at the top.

Must be a tough gig to work a Sunday night!

Edit: Spoke too soon. Now page is no longer available at the above link.

Nice work, Daily Telegraph. Not only were you unsporting enough to post the article of the winner of Masterchef prior to the conclusion of the show in Sydney (let alone other Australia time zones that are behind us) but you didn’t even get it right!

Edit: Link to the article for the correct result.

What are your thoughts on the early release of the finale results article by the Daily Telegraph, and the subsequent failure to even get it right?

Hi Simon Food Favourites! Thanks :)

I wouldn't have even bothered making a note of this except for the fact that it was released more than 30 mins prior to the conclusion of the finale show, that it had the wrong person revealed as the winner, the article wasn't changed or removed until after the true winner was announced and to cap it all off, there were what appeared to be canned quotes that were made out to look like they had been said after the finale!

    Hi Ellie! Ah, fail? :P

Hi FFichiban! It makes me question how much pre-canned media is out there and how often this sort of thing happens without our notice.
