Cameron Highlands title

Nausea-inducing winding roads up a mountain pass leads to vast fields of strawberries literally ripe for the picking. A tea plantation, tranquil fields of green & yellow as far as the eye can see. Steamboat, fueled by charcoal. An unexpected but otherwise awesome food find, perhaps one of the most memorable of the trip. A new found perspective on karaoke (image included).

Malaysia, day two. The food tour group’s first day on the road leads us to a bubbling cauldron of meat, bones and end trails, with a little toil and trouble; a flash flood and a growing dislike for a deity; seafood with a lyrical name; and taking a fresh approach when facing an arch nemesis on its home turf. Aren’t parties such a great excuse to get together and enjoy the pleasure of each others company over food & beverages?

One such party organised by chocolatesuze started off as a simple gathering over cheeses she’d obtained from a prior trip to the Hunter Valley. By the end, the guests of the party had sampled what I would regard to be some of the best prosciutto, jamon & other equivalent products available in Sydney, with one unanimously clear favourite. The Taste of Sydney Festival for 2010 is right around the corner (March 11 – 14). As the name implies, the festival gives one a taste of the culinary scene in Sydney. It showcases what this great city has to offer with regards to good food, whether that be a fine dining restaurant, or a food & beverage supplier.

Imagine spending an afternoon on the water, just past the heads of Sydney Harbour in a small charter vessel courtesy of Deep Sea Charters.

A beautiful, clear Summer’s day. The wide blue yonder stretches out before you as far as the eye can see. Moderate temperates with a cool sea breeze, carrying the fresh scent of the sea. The pleasant company of friends. Lines over the side of the boat waiting for a sizable catch to take back home for dinner. The gentle rocking of the boat. The more vigorous rocking of the boat. Fending off waves of nausea brought on by sea sickness. Succumbing to the nausea of sea sickness. The cramped toilet cubicle with a toilet so small that you have to make the difficult choice between going No.1 or No.2, as the seat was only big enough to accommodate the motion one or the other and not both.
