Cabramatta Moon Festival 2010

by Simon on September 18, 2010

Who would have thought that winning a moon cake eating competition would get me an article in the Fairfield City Champion (a local newspaper), but here we are.

Thanks to some gentle prodding by Chocolatesuze, a number of food bloggers hit the stage during last year’s Cabramatta Moon Festival for a moon cake eating competition. I was fortunate enough to come out on top but I hear it was a close race.

This year’s Cabramatta Moon Festival will be held tomorrow, 19th September from 11am – 8pm. There will be various cultural events such as a cooking demonstration & children’s lantern parade; competitions such as prawn peeling, noodle eating and the aforementioned moon cake eating comps; lots of food stalls, and a fireworks display in the evening.

I’ve yet to decide on whether I would defend my moon cake eating title this year. However, the noodle eating comp does seem enticing. I’ll have to see how I go on the day.

Awesome post simon! This will be a nice newspaper cutout to tell the children, grand children, great grand children under many “full moons” to come. :)

Go on…you could start preparing by skipping dinner tonight? *nudge nudge*

I did skip dinner but it was a very, very long lunch.

Been feeling somewhat under the weather today so don’t know if I’ll be doing any competitive eating. Like I said, will have to see… :)

Hehe.. After I saw that first pic I ran out to my parents and asked them where’s this week’s local paper.. Unfortunately they couldn’t find it.. :(

SO this was what you were up to when you poped by my hood? :D

It should be a fab day tomorrow. Bring on the eating!

This was indeed what I was up to. That and eating.

There were plenty of copies at the newspaper’s office in Fairfield but other than a colour photo, you’re not missing much :)

If I’m trying to show off the size of my cannons, maybe not. However, in this case, I’ll take it as it’s intended :)
