Adriano Zumbo Macaron Day 2012 – Macaron List

Hi! Just a quick message regarding the maestro of the macaron, Adriano Zumbo, and his upcoming annual Macaron Day for 2012 (I refuse to refer to it by it’s silly but otherwise official name, Zumbaron Day). Macaron Day will be held this Saturday 6th October, from 8am.

This year there are 62 different flavours to choose from. These including conventional flavours such as Chocolate and Lychee, unconventional but the otherwise mainstream Redskin and Salted Butter Popcorn (at least for Adriano Zumbo), as well as some utterly unexpected, creative and wacky flavours that are the hallmark of Adriano Zumbo and Macaron Day. Some noteworthy examples include Caramelised Hommus, Duck Pancake, Fried Chicken and Fried Doughnut, Kimchi and Pork Belly. Some of these are in limited supply so best to go early if you don’t want to miss out.

All participating stores will be open from 8am as previously mentioned, which includes the one at The Star that normally opens at 11am. Check out the website for more info on the day, the full list of macarons (direct link to PDF) including info on which ones contain allergens, and which macarons are in limited supply. It would be advised to check the website for the latest updates and possibly updates to the macaron list as well as it seems information is being changed without much notification through social media channels (at least that I’ve seen).

    Im not a fan on “Zumboron” either to be honest. The flavours look good though. I’m yet to participate in the yearly madness but might give it a shot this year

      I’m really intrigued by some of the flavours. Certainly the really out-there ones but there are a (relatively) normal ones that look interesting too that you don’t really see e.g. cola. Wonder if he’s going to use sherbert or pop-rocks to simulate fizz.

    Duck pancake? Kimchi? Pork belly? I’m not a big fan of macarons but I’d love to give those a shot.

      Yeah, I’m certainly drawn by the weird factor, just to see whether he can pull it off like he did with some creations I’ve had in the past e.g. cheeseburger and fish & chips.

    crazy flavours. have never had the chance to check out one of these events although i’m suspecting you can’t really beat the classic flavours.

    Wow those flavours sound delish! Kimchi? Pork Belly? Wish we could have tried them too! Any pictures from Macaron Day 2012 that we can check out?

      I have some photos I’ve been looking to process and post sometime this week, not just the Macaron Day ones.

      Not sure if I’ll be able to put up a post this week but I’ll see what I can do :)

    Should give this a go next year! I do love their cola macaron. As much as I love pork belly, seems too out there for a mac. That’s Zumbo! lol

      It actually was rather mundane in the end in that, other than a slight different in texture of the filling, it tasted exactly what it needed to taste like. Still, very clever with how he makes it work for the most part.

    I agree with not using absurd name Zumbaron. It’s not like he invented them!

      That’s true. I not so much a fan with the name as it sounds silly and comes of a little arrogant, which is so not him from my few encounters with the man himself.

      It’s quite a nice display to see in real life. However being there in front of it, you may have to fight the urge to lick it as per the scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory :)
