Macaron Opening Shot

A rainbow of happiness as one food blogger described it, the selection of macarons available on Macaron Day (the celebration of macarons for Adriano Zumbo’s birthday) was astounding! As the opening quote indicates, a veritable spectrum of bright colours and wonderful & unique flavours ranging from the rather pedestrian green tea to the more exotic flavours of cheeseburger. Well, at least by my standards.

Pepperoni Pizza Opener

I heart pizza. In my eyes, even when it’s bad, it’s still alright. I mean, how can you go wrong when crusty bread and warm melted cheese serve as the foundation on which most pizzas, great and small, are built apon.

Though pizzas are quite readily available at many a restaurant, over the phone, the Internet and heck, even in a shopping mall food court or the freezer section of any supermarket if you’re desperate enough, there’s a certain sense of satisfaction to be had when attempting to make pizza at home, especially for the first time. Adriano Zumbo. A name that is associated with great, unique and occasionally odd collection of cakes, desserts and, of course, macarons. A master craftsman of his trade; I would doubt that you would find a better macaron, or one that is more unique, in or around the Sydney area.

Sydney-Food-and-Wine-Fair---Yellow-Tail-group

Raise a glass and toast the closing of a fine month of food, festivals & fun otherwise known as the Sydney International Food Festival. The last event scheduled on the calendar was the Sydney Food & Wine Fair, held at the northern end of Hyde Park, with all proceeds going to the AIDS Trust of Australia.

Having a prior engagement that day, I was only able to attend the last couple of hours of the festival. However, even at this late stage, there was still a substantial festive buzz to this central city park.
