Macarons

Macarons. Those delicate, and often mispronounced French pastries are a delight to the senses. Attractive round form, initially crisp texture that soon melts away to nothingness, not to mention the cornucopia of flavours limited only by ones imagination. So, it was with great delight that I found that my very first Daring Bakers Challenge would be these sublime treats.

Japancake Lanterns

The Sydney International Food Festival’s Night Noodle Markets. I was eagerly awaiting the opportunity to attend this year’s event, having read press on the SIFF website selling it as an “authentic Asian hawker market“. I’d never been previously and had heard little about it.

Authentic Asian hawker market. With what seems to be a decent representation of Asians of various nations in the city of Sydney, and with our reasonably close proximity to Asia, this would surely turn out to be one hell of an event, right? Read more »

Maple Syrup on Pancakes

Ever wondered what late night dining options there are around Sydney? I’m not talking just your Friday/Saturday nights. That’s pretty easy. I’m talking about the middle of the week, when say you’ve had to stay back real late at the office and you’re looking for something other than the ubiquitous 24 hrs McDonalds on your way home. Perhaps you have a hankering for late night pancakes and you can’t be stuffed making them. Perhaps, like with the food bloggers from Here Comes the Food and vue de cuisinier and myself, you just feel the urge to go out and grab a late night meal with friends, just because we can :)
